The graft for acknowledgement...

All the independent artists and bands we’ve followed or gigged and partied with have one thing in common – we all want more listeners. The thrill of our hard work hitting fresh ears and the chance of our music meeting a stranger’s approval, is always a real rush.

Artists need fans so we have a sense of purpose and a drive to continue to do what we love. I am speaking from total experience, yep, our close family and friends will be forever loyal ticket buyers, Spotify playlist adders and YouTube subscribers, however when you truly believe in your work, the excitement comes in the form of reaching unknown individuals seeking out new music.

Sharing and promoting your own material and trying to organise gigs can overshadow the purity of your passion, but as unsigned musicians it’s our own responsibility to graft for acknowledgment. When it comes, it’s addictive. The realisation that your bands material is good enough to acquire the approval of strangers and furthermore gain the gift of their loyalty is a real inspiration. It is an awesome feeling to chase, but, in all honesty a tricky wave to ride. Most independent artists, old and new, have limited time to dedicate to pushing and promoting their work, many of you may not bother as your passion and time is solely reserved for your creativity. This is why, to be part of The Stone Sugar Jamboree and the promotional opportunities offered to artists and groups is a tremendous platform to expand beyond your current reach. It is more than just a gig. It is a total experience which will provide you with much more than just one night of fun. Ultimately, being a Jamboree patron means you get to be part of an amazing music event and get the opportunity to expand your listenership quickly with excellent exposure to new audiences and quality content as a take away extra to boost your social media. - Bex
